While everyone loves a pair of Pepto-Bismol pink flannel pj’s, a good, hefty fruit cake, or a gigantic tub of cheese flavored popcorn (ok, I have to admit I actually do love those tubs) sometimes a home decor inspired holiday gift is also appreciated. I’ve rounded up my favorite go-to gift ideas for the decor savvy (or to help the decor challenged), all for under $100.
Throws: Universally appreciated, throws are a perfect gift. People of all ages appreciate a warm, cozy cover up, and luckily there are options out there for any price range. I love the Linus throw from CB2. It reminds me of a sweater, and is currently on sale for under $50. For the classic traditionalists, Pottery Barn has the Monogrammable Throw (the monogram is a great personal touch), also extremely well priced right now at under $40. For the green-minded, All Modern offers a beautiful Suzani Eco Friendly Blanket in three colors (I’m partial to the straw) for $105 (ok, this goes above my “under $100″ statement, but it’s “organic” – what do you expect?).
Vases: Bonus points for vases presented with a fresh floral arrangement already in them. In my opinion, every home could use just a little bit of kitch. I think this owl vase from Z Gallerie offers just the right amount. And at under $20, if they only use it when you’re in town, it’s not like you broke the bank on it. West Elm has beautiful mango wood Log Vases ($19/$29) which look great even without an arrangement in them. Get the bang for your buck with Pottery Barn’s 3-set Rippled Glass bud vases. Perfect for your mother-in-law.
Picture Frames: Always a hit, especially when filled with a favorite photo. Gotta love Target for their selections, and I’m currently digging this Embossed Plain Frame in Spring Green. Although if you’re shopping on a budget, Target can be deceiving. I cannot be the only person who has gone in with a list of three items and come out $200 later with a cart full of items. Can I?? I’m loving the punchy blue on these Newport Frames by Z Gallerie, and Pottery Barn’s Chalkboard Gallery Frames.
Candles: Who doesn’t love candles? I personally love diptyque Paris (I recently picked up the Baies scent – two thumbs up!). I’m also a long time fan of Votivo (they have several holiday inspired scents, all of them fantastic). Neiman Marcus has a set of six holiday votives by Nest, which smell deeeelish. Speaking of candles, candle holders are also a great gift. CB2 has a variety of well priced and adorable candle holders, such as the Charlotte and the Whirly Hanging Candleholder.
No matter what type of gift you opt for, the gift wrap is often what’s ooh-ed and ahh-ed over sometimes even more-so than the gift itself. But wrapping paper, ribbons, tags, etc. can really add up. My favorite budget-friendly tip is using either plain kraft paper (as shown here) or white butcher paper, and embellishing from there. You don’t need to stick with just ribbons – use yarn, stamps, twigs, buttons, you name it. Want some more ideas? Check out my boards on Pinterest!
Hope your holiday season is off to a great start!
xoxo – Kelley
